Here’s a small sampling of work I’ve done in the last few years. Want to see other stuff? Send me an email: larryclow [at] gmail [dot] com.
Tales from the Video Vault–From 2004 to 2011, I wrote weekly reviews of obscure cult flicks, trashy horror films, forgotten film noirs, and other strange cinema at wirenh.com. I stepped away from the Vault in May 2011, but you can read the archives here. A new band of writers is braving the depths of cinematic cheese to carry on the Vault’s mission.
‘Cuchi cuchi’–An interview with Charo–In which Charo discusses her formative years in Madrid, her guitar playing prowess and her friendship with Dave Coulier on ‘The Surreal Life.’
Dover waterfront project not without risk–This, and the follow two samples, are part of a multi-story packaged I worked on with another reporter in early 2007, covering the proposed development of the Dover, NH waterfront district. The package, which resulted in almost a dozen stories over a two-week period, examined the various facets of the project, from the political maneuverings surrounding the project in the City Council to the impact the project will have on the rest of the city. This piece looks at the environmental issues at the development site (which served as Dover’s landfill in previous years).
Much to do before Dover waterfront condos can go up–Part of the Dover waterfront series from early 2007. This piece outlines how the waterfront development is contingent on a number of other city projects.
Waterfront pegged as economic catalyst–Another in a series on the pending development of Dover’s waterfront area, looking at how the waterfront development will impact the rest of the city in terms of economic development.
Iraqi judge visits Dover–A brief, impromptu interview with Iraqi Supreme Court Justice Madhat Al-Mahmood.
Not enough N.H. special education teachers–A feature on the difficulties of hiring, and retaining, special education teachers in New Hampshire.
System Breakdown–A feature on the theories and personalities involved in the 9/11 truth movement. Because 9/11 remains a sensitive (and political) issue, this was a challenge to report and write.
Getting off the grid–A long (probably too long) feature about what people on the N.H. Seacoast are doing to get off the grid and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.
